A Letter from a Father About His Sons
Arthur's father Henry Melrose Harvey wrote to the Army, searching for news of his sons.
" 16 Sept 1916
Dear Sir
I have or had three sons at the front.
Lt A.T. Harvey, 14th Battalion who was wounded and lately reported convalescent.
Driver G.K. Harvey 4th Light Horse now 14th Field Ambulance.
Corp A.E. Harvey, 26th Battalion advised yesterday as missing on 29th July.
I presume the latter report has only just reached you and I would like to know the probable duration before further information is available if he chanced to be a prisoner or re-joined his unit.
I would be glad of any information you may be able to give or advice as to the best methods of proceeding in making enquiries.
Yours sincerely,
H.M. Harvey"
Army wrote back to say no further way to find information and that they would forward any information as it came to hand.
