"OBITUARY MR VICTOR McCURRIE
The sudden death on Thursday morning last of Box Creek Station, Booligal, of Mr Victor McCurrie, came as a greal shock to his many friends in this district. The deceased, who was aged 50, was most highly thought of by his principals, and all who knew him. He came to the Booligal district from Condobolin some years ago. After managing St. Andrew's, he joined Mr Robinson in 1940 and had been manager of Box Creek for some time. He had been to the Ambulance Ball at Hillston on Wednesday evening, and collapsed and died shortly after his return home. He is survived by his wife, a son John, at present a student of the Hay War Memorial High School and a daughter, Miss B. of Box Creek. The funeral was held on Friday afternoon, the remains being interred in the Hillston Cemetery. The Rev. Mullan officiated at the graveside." - from the Hillsdon Spectator and Lachlan River Advertiser 23 Oct 1947 (nla.gov.au)
