Son of Charles Ernest Hows and Cambridge Street, Paddington, NSW and Ida Rosetta Williams of Lincoln Street, Campsie, NSW.
Brother of Charles Ernest Hows who returned to Australia on 20 September 1919 having served with the 9th Machine Gun Company and the 3rd Machine Gun Battalion
Commenced return to Australia on 19 February 1919 aboard HT Orca disembarking on 9 April 1919.
