100 yrs Gallipoli April 2015

This year I went to Gallipoli to attend the Dawn Service with my grandson Liam Bennett (age 18).
We were remembering my grandfather William Edward Sandercock and Liam's great great grandfather who died on August 27th 1915 at Hill 60.
We were able to visit Hill 60 and create a small memorial outside the cemetery as William has no known grave.
We were also able to visit Lone Pine where William's name appears on the Memorial.
It was a wonderful experience and we both felt very honoured to visit the place where so many of our Australian soldiers lost their lives.
I will always remember my grandmother Victoria and the sadness she experienced every year on Anzac Day. Losing her husband when she had three small children must have been so hard for her.
We were overwhelmed by the kindness of the Turkish people who assured us that they would look after 'our boys'.
