"At Armentieres on night of 19-20 Feb 1917, Pte. Tilbrook acted as a stretcher bearer to a raiding party. Under heavy fire he rendered first aid to a number of wounded men until he collapsed from exhaustion. Throughout the whole operation he displayed great courage and coolness while attending to wounded men."
