John Henry Honan

John was the second child and first son of John and Sarah Honan and was born at Redruth (Burra) South Australia on November 4th 1888. He had three siblings Alice, Olive and William. His parents were living at Redruth and his father was a dam sinker. John was a big man, family knowledge recalls him as the “biggest man in the army”.
John was working at Mundi Mundi station NSW as a boundary rider, and enlisted at Wentworth NSW on 15th February 1916 and embarked to the UK from Melbourne aboard the troop transport ship ‘HMAT Warilda’.
