Leslie was the fifth of six children of David Lamond (b1864 in Scotland) and Euphemia Hardie (b1869 in Scotland). David (a Cotton Dyer) immigrated in 1888, arriving in Brisbane, QLD on board the Duke of Sutherland. Euphemia arrived at Peel Island on board the Taroba in January 1889 and she and David married that month. They settled in Brisbane where David worked as a Caarter and Gardener.
Leslie was a Baker when he enlisted in the AIF in February 1917 - he had previously been in the Senior Cadets (Area 6). Leslie served in Egypt and France as a Private (Service No:764) with 3 Machine Gun Coy and 9 Infantry Battalion. He was Discharged in April 1920.
Returning to Brisbane following his Discharge, Leslie was working as a Baker when he married Vera Ward (b1906 in Brisbane, QLD) in 1929. Leslie and Vera settled in Brisbane where Leslie worked as a Baker until his death in 1944.
