Son of Charles and Elizabeth Ann (nee Vine) Bawden of Propsect Road, Prospect, SA; brother of Arthur Baawden who returned to Australia on 27 April 1919 having served with the 6th Field Artillery Brigade, Annie Bawden, Henry Hugh Bawden, Frederick Charles Bawden, Edith Annie Bawden, Elizabeth Mary Bawden, Ethell Bawden, Elsie Maud Bawden, Ernest Bawden, Wilfred Alfred Bawden, Bertha Bawden, Eva Bawden, Hilda Bawden, Ida Bawden and Doris Bawden
18 January 1919 - commenced return to Australia on board HT Ulysses disembarking in Adelaide on 9 March 1919
